Quiksilver Saquarema Pro

The state of Rio de Janeiro will become the world surfing capital from next week, with the Powerade presents Quiksilver Saquarema Pro starting on Tuesday in the "Surf City" in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro.

In all, 96 surfers from 19 countries will compete in the second phase 10,000 points of World Surf League Qualifying Series in 2015 on the beach of Itaúna, which is known as Maracanã by the power of the waves. NINETEEN COUNTRIES - The Quiksilver Saquarema Pro will further promote a major international confrontation between competitors from nineteen countries. The 23 Brazilians will try the fourth yellow-green title Itauna Beach against 73 foreigners, 24 from Australia, eleven of the United States, nine of Hawaii, seven of Portugal, four from France, two from Spain, two from Argentina, two Japan, two from New Zealand, two from Costa Rica, with eight other countries attending a representative each, Uruguay, South Africa, Ireland, Morocco, Tahiti and the Canary Islands, Guadeloupe and Reunion.

The 96 contestants are divided into 24 heats and the top two finishers in each advance to the second round of the competition.
